Who Are You Wearing Today?
WHO and what are you wearing today? Is it the new man in Christ who has been created in my likeness, or are you arrayed in orphan rags that depict your old man and his ways? Who are you showing the world that you are and who are you showing the world that you belong to? Would a king dress his offspring in rags or tattered and soiled apparel? Or would he dress them with clothing fit for dignitaries?
When you undress in the morning, I want you to purposely ponder your nakedness before me. I know everything about you and all of your strengths and weaknesses are exposed. I am aware of the vulnerable areas of your heart and that which makes you feel ashamed or insecure. Instead of proceeding directly to your wardrobe closet to choose your cover up for the day, I would like you to come to me. Allow me to dress you with the clothes that I’ve prepared for you as my royal child.
Envision me handing you your underclothing, which is the full armor of God. It isn’t heavy like you would think in the natural but is actually light and easy to wear. First, comes the invisible girdle of truth to protect your loins so that you are aware of my power within you. Second, the breastplate of righteousness that guards your emotions is placed on your chest and thirdly, the gospel sandals of peace are fastened to your feet. They will help you to remain steady when navigating difficult terrain. They will also allow you to go to places you wouldn’t have been able to otherwise. Remember that you are being dressed for battle as you take up my shield of faith in your hand. It will help you to quench the fiery darts of the enemy. The helmet of salvation, which is the mind of Christ, goes on next and lastly, envision me passing you the sword of the spirit, which is my Word.
Now comes the best part of all! You are ready for a change; you are ready for new outerwear. Put ME on! As I embrace your shame, your fears and regrets, see them dissolve with my touch. As I wrap you in garments of salvation and drape you in my royal purple robe of righteousness, be conscious of your true identity as a child of God. Let your transformed character be evident to all as you step out into your day knowing you are chosen, holy in my sight and deeply loved.
