The Gift of God

IMG_1364.JPG

I love to lavish my children with good gifts; it brings me such joy! Have you received the greatest, all-inclusive gift the world has ever known? Do you dare step up in faith and take my most prized possession for yourself? Can you recall the last time that you took special care to present your child with just the perfect gift? Didn’t you love the process of saving for it, preparing it and planning just the right occasion to share it with your loved one? You enjoyed the moment when you witnessed the expression of delight on your child’s face. I, too, look with great anticipation for you to respond by embracing my personal gift to you, my Son, Jesus Christ. If you only knew “the gift of God” and what he will be for you, you’d run to grasp hold of him and draw him close to your heart.

There’s a great exchange that takes place when you receive Christ into your heart. My Holy Spirit takes residence in your spirit man and the glory of God is released in you. Gratitude for this inexpressible gift produces a humility and desire to then come to me with a gift all of your own. Unknowingly, you give me the gift of yourself, through devoting your life and service to Christ and my kingdom. That is the greatest gift I can ever receive and it brings both of us fullness of joy.

Bible Passages
All generous giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or the slightest hint of change. ( James 1:17) NET

As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. (1 Peter 4:10) NKJV

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God (Eph. 2:8) KJV
