Gone Fishing
All of my children worry at some time or another, wondering whether I will come through for them or not. Simon Peter was no different. He was fishing all night on one occasion and caught nothing. But when Jesus told him to go into the deep water and cast his nets again, he obeyed. Even so, he told Jesus that he already did that (as if my Son didn’t know). Nonetheless, Simon Peter’s boat was filled to overflowing with fish at Jesus’ word. He clearly was ashamed by his own former unbelief, telling the Lord to depart from him, as he felt convicted by his lack of faith.
Jesus wanted Simon Peter to receive this message and I want you to receive it as well. “Do not yield to your fear.” Remind yourself of this during precarious times. Have you ever considered that the past is a sure prediction of the future? Follow my wisdom and meditate on previous times where my faithfulness proved my goodness to you. Is there anyone else who can truly change your captivity? Even when you’ve taken a wrong turn, there comes a moment when I can no longer endure your misery and will come to your aide. In the meantime, I’ll use everything you are experiencing to grow and equip you. My goodness is my glory and in the end, I will make everything right. See the end from the beginning and you will have a greater sense of well-being.
